The surge in new members continues at the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF), with the announcement that SIG, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of specialist building products, is to join the BMF from September 1.

Mark Tomlin, SIG UK group sales and marketing director, said: “SIG is delighted to have joined the BMF. Merchants are a crucial part of the construction supply chain, offering product choice and value added services to customers. We are keen to be a part of the work the BMF is doing and are impressed by their drive to be the voice for merchants in the UK. We believe that by being members, we are supporting both the construction industry as a whole and the ambitions of the merchant sector.”

Commenting on its latest member, John Newcomb, managing director of the BMF, added: “I am delighted that SIG, who I met for the first time at the All Industry Conference this year, see the value in the BMF’s current direction and proposition. Our aim is to represent the whole of the building materials distribution industry. Our ambition is to ensure that our industry’s views are heard and acted upon. The greater our number, the more influence we have, and I hope many more companies will join SIG and the other new merchant and supplier members the BMF has attracted over the last 12 months and work with us to achieve our vision of one industry with one voice.”
