Andrew Weiss, vice president of the Rainy Day Trust board is already getting warmed up for his stint in the saddle as Rainy Day Trust president by undertaking a mammoth, international cycle ride in aid of the charity.

His route will take him 750 miles starting in Kingston and finishing in the Algarve via Portsmouth and Bilbao. The ride gets into gear on 24 September and is scheduled to finish on 6 October.

Already in training in the Kingston area, Mr Weiss has also secured a shirt sponsor in the form of Benchmark Retail Services. He said: “Benchmark has been fantastic, and I’m hoping that I can secure a few other generous supporters to help me raise funds for such a good cause. In the meantime keep your eyes peeled for me cycling around the local lanes.”
