A team from independent timber and builders’ merchant Ridgeons has successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, raising money for Cancer Research UK and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The team of eight, named the ‘Ridgeon Walkers’, undertook the challenge on Friday 13 September. They set off from the Pen-y-Ghent café to conquer the Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks, and on the second peak they bumped into famous mountaineer Chris Bonington.

The Ridgeon Walkers completed the 24-mile challenge in 10 hours 45 minutes, beating their 12-hour target.

The team has raised £5,000, which will be split between Cancer Research UK and East Anglian Air Ambulance. Those involved are now all members of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Members Club.
