Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is continuing to expand and invest in its business by purchasing the assets and trade of Northern Timber.

Northern Timber, a timber and builders’ merchant, has traded from Wakefield Road in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, since 1983.

Howarth Timber completed the purchase of the company on 30 September and the outlet will become the company’s 28th branch.

Nicholas Howarth, managing director at Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, said: “We are pleased to add Northern Timber to our merchant branch network. The branch and its staff have an excellent reputation for friendliness, being knowledgeable and offering first-class customer service.

“This ties in with how we like to operate our branches. We are confident that given the support which being part of a larger like-minded company will give them, that the Northern Timber team will be able to further build upon their success and make their branch even better for their customers to buy from.”

Mr Howarth added: “The branch will be called Howarth Timber Brighouse. We intend to invest in the site by refurbishing and upgrading its office and collection centre; in addition we hope shortly to be able to gain additional space to expand the site. Being part of Howarth Timber will give the Northern Timber team access to a wider range of products.”

Terry Egan, managing director of Northern Timber, said: “I and the rest of the team at Northern Timber are pleased to be joining Howarth Timber. The way the company operates seems to fit in closely with how we trade with our customers.

“We are excited at the opportunities that being part of a larger company offers us, and I am confident that joining Howarth Timber will be good for our customers as well.”
