Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS), part of the Travis Perkins Group, has released three LABC-registered animations to demonstrate how to meet efficiency regulations for a series of new and traditional building methods.

The animations feature retrofit solutions for internal wall insulation, external wall insulation, and suspended timber floor insulation. Each video tackles industry-relevant topics such as surface condensation, improving heat retention and using ground-floor insulation trays for an installation more quickly than traditional methods.

Lee Jackson, head of technical at SBS, said: “Improving thermal efficiency through cost-effective methods is a vital part of retrofitting. It enables property owners to save money, while making buildings more comfortable and reducing CO2 emissions. These animations demonstrate that retrofit projects can be thermally efficient and code-compliant by making only minor tweaks to standard building practices and materials.

“Changing regulations, particularly in reference to sustainability and efficiency, can be difficult to keep up with. SBS has launched these animations to make life as simple as possible for Travis Perkins Group customers.”

Each installation animation is based on one of SBS’ standard construction drawings and has been thermally modelled by BRE and accredited by LABC. The website also features a solution data sheet for each installation with written technical installation guidelines. Additional details such as where to source the products and which regulations are relevant are included alongside a number of handy tips.
