The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) is putting the spotlight on branch performance in 2014 with a brand new two-day event for branch managers on 30 April and 1 May.

The inaugural BMF Branch Managers Forum is specifically designed to help BMF branch managers, and those aspiring to branch management, to run their depots more effectively and improve performance in every aspect. With a full programme of seminars and product master classes, the Forum will fully utilise the dedicated conference facilities at the BMF’s Coventry HQ.

John Newcomb, BMF managing director, said: “This is a hugely exciting new venture for the BMF. Branch managers are the lynchpin of industry and this is the first major forum designed specifically for them. We are lining up a fantastic range of speakers to stimulate new thinking and galvanise action when delegates return to their branches.”

The BMF has gathered together an impressive range of industry experts to share their knowledge on a wide variety of branch-related subjects, from leadership and management to merchandising, marketing and digital media, from employment and training to health and safety and security, all designed to improve branch performance and add directly to the bottom line.

Product knowledge is essential for the branch team and the BMF Branch Managers Forum will showcase product masterclasses on plumbing and heating, insulation, bricks and blocks, roofing, landscaping and timber. Other masterclasses will help builders’ merchants design their showrooms to maximise sales and present the BMF Wellness Programme, developed with Dr Dorian Dugmore following last year’s Conference and designed to ensure that merchant staff are physically fit and adequately protected from the stresses and strains of corporate life.

Penny Mallory, whose thought-provoking address impressed delegates at the BMF Members Day, returns as the event’s keynote speaker. The first woman to drive a world rally car, Ms Mallory is not only a UK champion rally driver, but also a precision stunt driver and presenter of many motoring and lifestyle TV programmes. She has first hand experience of what it takes to be a world-class performer, and believes it’s a choice that everyone can make.

The event is expected to be oversubscribed and entry is limited to just two branch managers for each merchant company.

The BMF Branch Managers Forum is supported by some of the industry’s biggest names. Sponsors include, Ibstock, IKO, SIG, SCA, Stonemarket and MRA Marketing.
