The Ringmer branch of Chandlers Building Supplies was a proud sponsor of Sussex Downs College’s Skill Build competition, which saw students from across the bricklaying department complete a work-related challenge in five hours.

More than 10 students took part in the competition, which was judged by tutors from the college.

Joe White was awarded first place in the senior competition and Kieran Wells came top in the junior event. Both students received a Stabila Spirit Level, courtesy of Chandlers, and will now go on to represent Sussex Downs College at The Guild of Bricklayers regional competition on Thursday 3 April, as well as the regional Skill Build competition, which will take place at the college on Tuesday 13 May.

Nigel Williams, sales manager at Chandlers’ Ringmer branch, said: “We are always delighted to be involved with Skill Build competitions as it gives the students a chance to put their skills to the test in a ‘real’ situation. Well done to Joe and Kieran; everyone at Chandlers wishes them good luck for the upcoming regional finals.”
