Independent merchant buying group IBC has welcomed Arnold Laver Timber Merchant, bringing further strength and experience to the group.

Arnold Laver will be the sole supplier of a range of wood products to the group, including Kota Fully Finished MDF Mouldings.

Based in Sheffield, Arnold Laver started trading in 1920, run by the eponymous Mr Arnold Laver. The company has since grown into one of the major suppliers of timber solutions to the UK construction industry, and was a supplier of timber products to the London Olympic venues, including the Velodrome.

Patrick Guest, Arnold Lavers Group’s commercial director, said: “I have to say that it has been a very smooth process joining IBC, and I have been absolutely delighted with the friendly offers of assistance from the IBC team. The company has been made to feel most welcome and looks forward to participation and involvement with IBC.”

He continued: “A key part of our development plan is to find new customers and to bring innovative products to existing and new markets. With this in mind, it made good business sense to join IBC and work with their resources to increase our market penetration.”

John Brett, IBC sales and operations director, said: “IBC is delighted to welcome such a prominent industry name to the group. We feel this is a sign of how far we have come as a buying group, that we can offer benefits to a company with such an outstanding industry brand name as Arnold Laver.”
