Amersham Decorating Supplies has seen record sales during its first year at its new site on the Corinium Industrial Estate in Amersham.

Founded in 1990 by brothers John and Ray Bickerton, the company – known locally as Amersham Dec – was based in a small shop in White Lion Road for more than 20 years. Mike Bickerton joined the firm six years ago and took over when his father John and uncle Ray retired. He later orchestrated the relocation of the company to larger premises.

Mr Bickerton said: “One year on since we’ve moved to the new premises, our business has boomed. Mike Mahoney and the team at Crown Paints have been a fantastic support to us, helping us to brand the store and supporting us with promotional materials and product promotions.

“Their help in branding means that when customers arrive now, they walk in and they can see that we have a huge range of quality products, and the impression is cheerful and professional.

“With Crown Paints’ help, the large and empty space became bright and smart. Their input was invaluable in getting everything laid out in an accessible way and looking great.

“It was a bit of a gamble to open at the start of a new year, but it went really well and in July we enjoyed the best month we’ve ever had in more than 20 years of trading.”

Crown Paints worked together with Mr Bickerton and his staff to plan an accessible layout throughout the store, while creating a welcoming environment. The team also produced bespoke banners and posters to help promote the full range of Crown Paints’ brands stocked at the new premises.

Crown Paints’ marketing manager Debbie Orr said: “Amersham Dec has been a successful and respected decorating merchant for a long time and we’re very pleased to have been able to offer support and assistance to them during their relocation process, and to see the success the team has enjoyed in their new premises.

“They have achieved great things during the first year and we’re looking forward to working with them in the future.”
