Seventeen-year-old Jordan Henderson has secured a full-time career as stock controller at GPH Builders Merchants, after a part-time job helping his father.

When he was still a student at Turriff Academy, Jordan would visit the Inverurie branch of GPH Builders Merchants every Saturday to help his father Doug, assistant branch manager and tool hire manager.

“I have been part of the fabric of GPH from a young age because my Dad works at the Inverurie branch, so I got to know the ins and outs of the company over time,” he said.

Jordan originally thought he would follow a career in computing. “IT is one of the aspects of being a stock controller, as well as counting the stock and making sure it’s correct, so I am still getting a lot of experience in computing,” he explained.

Isabelle Campbell, Inverurie branch manager, added: “Since starting with us earlier in the year, Jordan has proven himself to be extremely keen and a very fast learner. Having his Dad here might be seen as an advantage to many, but Jordan has shown a determination to succeed by himself and is doing us proud.”
