LONDON: B&Q has given logistics company Wincanton a contract to manage B&Q's 90,000sqm showroom fulfilment centre in Burton-on-Trent.
This handles B&Q's kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ranges, some 9m cases per year.
Wincanton is also planning all transport routes for B&Q, handling about half a million customer orders in the UK.
"We have a long-standing relationship with B&Q and are of course extremely pleased to be associated with one of the UK retail sector's biggest and most respected brands,Ó says Guy Elliott, managing director, contract logistics for Wincanton.
"Because of the way people buy things these days, including the emergence of mobile purchases and processes such as 'click and collect', the entire retail sector is going through a period of unprecedented change," he says.
"Wincanton is at the forefront of this transformation and we are constantly developing our solutions to help customers adapt to the new environment and, ultimately, to meet and benefit from the multi-channel challenge."
