B&Q is closing its store in Broadheath, Altrincham in an agreement with Morrisons supermarket, which will take over the site subject to planning.

B&Q has previously declared its intention to reduce the number and size of its stores.

Scott Sharp, divisional director of B&Q, West said: “We have been in Altrincham for more than 30 years and it is with regret that we announce our intention to close the store.

“We are committed to working with Morrisons to do everything possible to minimise the impact of the closure for our employees, and will continue to serve our Altrincham customers to the highest possible standard over the coming months.”

Morrisons has informed Trafford Council of its intentions for the proposed 2,000sq m food store.
