The Company

Our Client is an independently owned building product distribution organisation with multiple branches in the UK, specialising in the supply of construction and groundworks materials to builders, ground workers and civil engineers and also Merchants.

At their Essex operation, they are a small team of dedicated and knowledgeable individuals who pride themselves on providing top notch customer service at all times and delivering the best solutions to customers.

The Individual

Reporting directly to the Group Sales Manager, you will be leading and developing a small, dedicated internal sales team committed to the branch sales efforts. Your role will also involve sales of a wide range of building materials, predominantly over the telephone.

The Branch Manager will be responsible for ordering materials, negotiating prices, and responding to customer queries (both trade and retail) and suppliers.

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be driven, adaptable and hands-on. Our Client’s ethos is to appoint Branch Managers that will also play a very active role in the sales team and be focused on exceeding branch sales targets.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the depot
  • Leading and mentoring a dedicated internal sales team
  • Managing transport for the branch (3 vehicles)
  • Ordering stock
  • Responding to a wide range of queries from customers
  • Proactively looking to increase branch turnover and profit

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • High standards of customer service
  • Proactive and sales driven attitude
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience in a customer facing role

Package and Working Hours

40 hours per week - 8.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday (no weekends or bank holidays)

28 days annual holiday entitlement (including bank holidays)

Company auto-enrolment pension scheme

Competitive basic salary (negotiable dependent on experience)

Uncapped commission scheme
