The new Head of Buying at an online building materials distributor says the sector is “on the brink of a major transformation”.

Mark Wolfe’s new role was created to capitalise on Building Supplies Online’s growth, as he says online sales of materials are seeing a surge that suggests our sector is on the brink of a major transformation, similar to that experienced by the consumer retail sector a decade ago”.

Wolfe’s responsibilities will be to expand the range and scale of the business and strengthen its product offering, working with suppliers to add new categories and extend existing ones. Plans are currently on track to launch Building Supplies Online’s outdoor range in spring 2019.

His previous roles include Head of Category for building materials at Wickes, and managing global sourcing projects at Travis Perkins. Earlier in his career Wolfe held a series of buying roles covering all areas of the building supplies sector.

Co-CEO and Founder Craig Baldwin said Wolfe has an “impressive track record of buying and innovative procurement in the building supply sector, which are essential to support our growth plans”.
