LONDON: Circle Anglia, one of the UK’s largest affordable housing groups, has released a Prequalification Questionnaire to secure a partner to invest in the provision of Solar Photovoltaic Panels on its homes in the UK.
The procurement process will be completed in the next few months and installation will start in summer 2011.
The project will take advantage of the ‘Feed in Tariff’ funding and is part of Circle Anglia’s plan to address energy poverty. Under this scheme energy suppliers make regular payments to the provider who generates electricity from the solar panels.
Circle Anglia will appoint a single provider to take full responsibility for the funding, delivery, installation and long-term operation and maintenance of Solar Photovoltaic Panels. This will be for as many suitable homes as possible both belonging to Circle Anglia, and its partners and clients.
It is expected that the Provider will install the panels to provide free electricity generated by the panels to the relevant residents during the day, while generating an income from the excess energy sold to utility providers.
