Our client is a leading Timber Importer & Distributor with over fifty years trading history and due to expansion they are seeking a professional CUSTOM IMPORT CLERK to assist in their busy shipping department.

Reporting to: DIRECTOR

As Custom Import Clerk you will bring integrity to the shipping department and you will ensure all procedures and compliance are followed in a professional manner. You will be responsible for monitoring stock that leaves the warehouse and ensuring correct documentation is done. No two days will be the same so the role requires someone with a diverse approach to their working day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing documentation , including commercial invoices, bills of landing , packing lists and purchase orders
  • Create import files
  • Liaise with shipping lines, ports and devanning companies 
  • Creating Stock, liaising with Sales Staff and Customers
  • Dealing with logistics
  • Inventory control
  • Track a shipment’s deliver status

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills   
  • Knowledge of Data freight, Destinate and CNS computer systems   
  • Import knowledge and ideally Export
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills for troubleshooting shipping issues and any customer complaints
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Good IT skills & PC literate including EXCEL & Power Point
  • Resilient under pressure, and be flexible with working hours
