Our client is one of the UK's leading private timber and building supplies merchants with branches located across the Country. Due to an internal promotion, they are looking to recruit an External Sales Executive to assist one of their top performing branches and drive sales as well as margin growth.

Position Overview

This role will involve managing the sales development, and key account management for a good-sized area for the branch.  The role is field based and you will be responsible for managing your own diary to ensure that you are covering the area visiting your account customers on a regular basis maintaining positive relationships and growing the business spend from these clients.  Additionally, you will be responsible for new business generation both from telephone conversations, and site visits to build the sales pipeline for the branch.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage your diary to visit existing customers on a regular basis.
  • Maintain telephone contact with all customers to keep strong relationships with the clients.
  • Building new relationships with potential customers, both on the telephone, and on site.
  • Work closely with the sales team within the branch to ensure that all orders are processed.
  • Working as a link between the customers and the branch to deal with any issues that arise within the sales process.
  • Providing quotations to your customer base.
  • Providing technical advice, support and aftersales
  • Identifying existing customers where there is an opportunity to increase annual spend and developing a trade relationship
  • Deal with daily administrative tasks and reporting associated with the position.
  • Covering areas Tenterden / Maidstone / Ashford

Hours

7:30am-5pm Monday to Friday

Alternative Saturday mornings 8am-1pm

Candidate

We are looking for an individual who has the appropriate skills and experience to do the job twinned with the desire and capability to grow along with the business which may include growing their own team and driving change. 

Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a builders merchants environment and will understand the requirements of both trade and domestic / retail customers, however if you have external sales experience with the right route to market experience, and our coming from a different product range, your application will also be considered by our client.

Our candidate will be strong in sales management, hungry for sales, determined to succeed, be self-managed and self-motivated. They will have a warm management style, great product knowledge and have the ability to build relationships with their customers. 

A successful candidate will be IT literate and able to pick up the systems quickly and enter data accurately.  As this position is field sales, you will need to have a full driving licence to be considered for this vacancy.
