This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established specialist capital equipment rental business. The business is part of a privately owned & personally financed group of companies, with a turnover in excess of £100m.

They are at an exciting time in their evolution, moving from a traditional rental model to “equipment as a service”.

Investment is available to support their growth plan.  This includes: 

  • More and higher quality assets
  • New technology – digitalised connected equipment, remote monitoring, energy optimisation, integrated renewable technology: solar panels, micro wind turbine, energy storage and EV charging
  • Improved sales & marketing strategy; creating a distinct value proposition

There is good growth potential across their markets, but especially within food and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

With the right person in this role, this business could expand considerably with higher profit margins!  There will be freedom to operate in an autonomous environment with no bureaucracy and the support of experienced senior leadership (if required!).

Potential candidates should have:

  • A successful track record in some kind of sales leadership role: Head of Sales, National Sales Manager or Sales Director within some kind of specialist capital equipment rental business: power gen/welfare units/cold chain/event equipment/film & TV equipment, specialist installed equipment with a power source
  • A successful track record of developing new business relationships and winning new business in multiple markets.  Experience in food & pharma manufacturing is highly beneficial but not essential
  • Can successfully operate in such an environment without the support structures of a larger corporate and can achieve results
  • A proactive, inquisitive, common-sense approach
  • High intellectual capacity and highly credible, internally and externally
  • Positive communication skills & exceptional leadership
  • Willingness to roll sleeves up and always looking for opportunities to grow the business in these markets
  • To be customer-facing and enjoy doing this
  • Fit in with and positively develop the culture within the organisation, ensuring respect for all within the business
  • A self-starter who can operate at pace, confidently making decisions – no procrastination here, please!
  • Energetic and creative, resilient and tenacious. Willing to embrace the challenge
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • You will own the sales strategy and be responsible for delivering the activity via a team to achieve it. This is a technical, consultative, solutions-based approach, not just “box shifting” based on price!
  • You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Midlands for ease of access to the Head Office.  But of course, there will be regular national travel within the role, visiting key accounts and supporting the team
