Dave Robertson is appealing for donations which will make a big difference and more importantly promote the wonderful industry to the youth of today that will hopefully become the stars of tomorrow.

From 17 May, IBC Buying Group Managing Director, Dave Roberston will be leading an industry team that will be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats as part of the Construction Ride for Youth to raise funds for two youth charities

Roberston has been involved in many charity events during his 40+ years in the industry, but this one-off event is definitely the biggest, and is probably going to be the hardest. Cycling 100 miles a day for ten straight days up and down hills will certainly be a test.

Roberston said: "I am very passionate about the industry and the way we all look out for each other in our family. Now is the time for me and the industry team I am assembling for the ride to “give something back” – with your generosity and help.

"I am coming to you as a Key supplier partner to IBC Buying Group to plea for you to support us by digging deep and sponsoring the Team on the event, and helping us to make a massive difference for the youth of today that will go on to be our industry stars of tomorrow.

"We have an initial target of £15,000 – but personally and with your generosity I am looking to smash this and make a real difference for the future."

All the money raised will be split equally between Unitas Youth Zone and Construction for Youth {Maddie Rose} – two incredibly worthy charities.

Unitas Youth Zone
IBC Buying Group is a founder member of the Unitas Barnet Youth Zone. This purpose-built facility allows circa 6,000 young people aged between eight and 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities, the opportunity to gather and learn life-enhancing skills and training in a safe environment.

With this support they can grow the confidence they need to become a happier and healthier generation. It’s a place where they can grow their aspirations and make the right choices as they move into adulthood.

The positive impact that the Youth Zone has had on the reduction of youth crime in the area is a real testament to the hard work the Unitas team are delivering. It is part of the On Side family, which has a number of these locations nationwide to give young people a better chance in life. Maddie Rose - Construction Youth Trust
The industry was robbed of a wonderfully talented young lady so cruelly and the Maddie Rose foundation created in her memory is a charity close to so many in the industry due to the close nature of the family it affected.

The Maddie Rose campaign is all about raising awareness of a wonderful industry family, bringing the youth of today into the industry and showing them the wonderful careers they can have in all aspects of the construction sector.

The industry needs the next generation to continue to join to give it security and longevity for the future. You can learn more about the Construction Youth Trust at www.constructionyouth.org.uk

Roberston said: "There’s no easy way to say this ……I want your money. I have been contacted by many Suppliers who have asked that we raise a Charity invoice from IBC to their respective business for your pledged amount for you to make payment into IBC and we will direct the money to the online total collection page on your behalf."
