UK: Indesit Company UK has appointed Maurizio Pettorino as the company’s new managing director for the UK and Irish markets.

Maurizio joins Indesit Company UK from Coca Cola where he has worked since 2007, most recently holding the position of commercial director, Italy.

Heading up a 2200-strong team, Mr Pettorino's new role will focus on continuing to strengthen Indesit Company’s brands in the UK, which include the UK’s two market leaders, Hotpoint and Indesit.

Speaking about the appointment, Mr Pettorino said: “I’m very excited by the opportunity to manage a great team and to continue to deliver top range business results, quality products and first class service for Indesit Company’s customers. As market leaders, we have the responsibility and the challenge to keep driving important markets such as the UK & Ireland by delivering innovative solutions, developing common efficiencies with our customers and by continuously generating strong and sustainable market demand.”

Mr Pettorino started his career with Procter and Gamble in 1989, achieving the position of corporate trade marketing director in Italy. In 1999 he joined Reckitt Benckiser reaching the role of regional sales director for East Asia. He then joined American Express in 2004 in the position of VP Corporate Card, Italy, before going to Coca Cola.

He will replace Indesit Company’s current UK managing director, John Morrissey, who has taken the decision to retire at the end of 2012 following seven successful years with the company. Mr Morrissey joined the company in 2005 as Commercial Director and was appointed UK MD in 2010.

Mr Morrissey is also chairman of AMDEA (the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances), the trade association for the domestic appliance industry covering the whole of the UK. He will continue to hold this role.
