COVENTRY: Jewson’s managing director Peter Hindle MBE has completed the gruelling La Marmotte cycling challenge through the French Alps to raise £15 000 for Jewson’s ‘together’ charity partner Barnardos.
Along with Peter, also taking part in the challenge was Mick Ives of International cycling team MI racing. The challenge began in Lyon and took the group over 9 hours to cover an impressive 106 miles and 10 000 feet of climbing, across three of the most famous peaks in France.
Jewson’s managing director Peter Hindle MBE, commented: “Although there must be easier ways of fundraising, this is my way of helping to raise money for a worthy cause. Jewson branches around the UK will be holding their own events and challenges across the next two years to raise further funds for the charity."
Since its launch in 2002, Jewson's 'together' charity programme has raised over £2m for some great causes including the British Heart Foundation, Great Ormond Street, Cancer Research UK and Help the Hospices. The programme encourages Jewson staff, their families, customers and suppliers to organise and participate in a range of activities to support the nominated charity through fundraising and volunteering.
