WEST YORKSHIRE: Robin Shuttleworth, partner at JL Marshall Builders' Merchants, and North East co-driver Ronnie Roughead will be competing in the RAC Rally this month in their self-prepared Historic Specification Ford MK1 Escort.
In order to assist the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, whose help has sometimes been required on events in the past, Mr Shuttleworth and Mr Roughhead have auctioned advertising squares on the car to numerous companies and friends throughout the North, and have succeeded in raising £3000 for the registered charity.
The cheque was presented to David Hebden, a Community Fundraiser at Yorkshire Air Ambulance at the recent Media Day at Croft Circuit.
"It has been quite difficult raising the money in the current climate, but my suppliers, customers and friends have all entered into the spirit of it and helped us get this fantastic amount," said Mr Shuttleworth, adding "now the hard work really starts; I am looking forward to the rally and its challenges, and want to reach the finish in a reasonable position to reward my supporters."
