PETERHEAD: One of Scotland's largest private civil engineering contractors, Les Taylor Contractors and its sister demolition company J G Fowlie, have entered receivership.

The firms are the two main divisions of the Les Taylor Group. Colin Dempster and Andrew Davison of Ernst and Young are appointed joint receivers.

Dempster said the decline of the businesses meant all almost all jobs have been made redundant. "We are now focused on realising assets on behalf of the companies' creditors," he said.

Two remaining principal divisions of the Les Taylor Group – Grampian Building Contractors and Mintlaw Transport, a haulage and animal feed storage business – will continue to trade at the moment.
