Wilson Brook Consulting has been retained by MEDITE SMARTPLY, a market-leading European manufacturer of engineered wood panels, to appoint a Head of Sales – Industry.

MEDITE SMARTPLY supplies construction, furnishing and industrial processing markets across the UK, Ireland and internationally. The business is financially secure, highly invested, and pursuing a clear long-term strategy focused on relevance, sustainability and profitable growth.

This is a newly created role, reflecting the importance of a small number of strategically critical industrial / OEM customers within the MEDITE business unit.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional regional sales management role.

The Head of Sales – Industry will own a defined portfolio of c.15 high-value industrial and processing customers (manufacturers, OEMs, laminators, finishers, kitchen and furniture producers). Many of these customers operate across borders, with the UK as a primary end-market.

The role has been created to:

  • Centralise ownership of key industrial/OEM accounts
  • Improve pricing consistency, margin protection and forecasting accuracy
  • Build deeper, longer-term customer relationships
  • Reduce complexity created by multi-territory trading and currency movement

Initially focused on the UK & Ireland, the scope may extend into Europe over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and develop strategic relationships with MEDITE SMARTPLY’s most important industrial/OEM customers
  • Act as the single commercial owner for those accounts across territories
  • Lead account planning, pricing logic, forecasting and margin discipline
  • Align regional sales teams, supply chain, planning, marketing and technical functions
  • Provide high-quality market and customer insight to inform commercial and strategic decisions

This is a senior individual-contributor role, operating through influence, credibility and judgement rather than large teams.

Candidate Profile

Wilson Brook is seeking a commercially astute, relationship-led key account professional, ideally stepping up into a richer and more strategic customer portfolio.

Suitable candidates are likely to have:

  • Strong experience managing OEM or manufacturing customers
  • A background in industrial manufacturing, building products, automotive, aerospace, electrical or similar sectors
  • Proven capability in pricing, margin management, forecasting and negotiation
  • The presence and judgement to operate with demanding, sophisticated customers

Deep product knowledge is not essential. Commercial acumen and customer credibility are.

Location

  • UK-based; candidates ideally living within reasonable commuting distance to the Dartford office preferred (some flexibility)
  • Regular UK & Ireland travel, with some European exposure
