With a new, purpose-built factory set to open in the near future and major group investment already underway, the business is poised to significantly increase production capacity and triple turnover!

The company operates nationally across, supplying robust, high-quality products to customers in construction, infrastructure, and public sector markets.  Their products can be tailored to the requirements of their customer and fitted out for different applications.

As MD you will have full accountability for the operational and financial performance of the business. Reporting to the Group Board, you will lead all aspects of manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and commercial activity. The primary objectives are to improve efficiency, strengthen quality systems, and deliver sustainable profitability through effective leadership and strategic execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear operational leadership and direction to the management team and workforce.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives across production, quality, and delivery.
  • Manage P&L, budgets, and capital investment to meet commercial targets.
  • Successfully deliver a new factory on time and budget and ramp up production
  • Maintain and enhance health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Build and mentor a cohesive leadership team to support long-term growth.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  • Represent the business within the wider Group, contributing to strategic planning and collaboration.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as an MD in a manufacturing business, ideally within construction-related capital equipment. Experience with steel fabrication with integrated M&E is particularly interesting
  • Strong commercial understanding and financial management capability.
  • Demonstrable record of delivering operational efficiency and margin improvement, scaling production and developing an external market strategy to deliver growth in turnover.  After all, there’s no point manufacturing more if they can’t sell them!
  • Skilled in people leadership, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Results-oriented, analytical, and decisive.
