Mike Pollard of ForgeFix is running the Virgin London Marathon on 23 April, 2017, for Dementia Friends in aid of the Alzheimer's Society.

The Alzheimer's Society is a Charity Foundation that supports people with dementia, helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.

Mike hopes to further raise awareness of the illness and, in particular, the behaviour and communication difficulties it can cause, in honour of his partner Julie, who was diagnosed with young onset dementia (Alzheimer's) at the age of 55.

There are estimated to be at least 42,000 younger people with dementia in the UK.

Mike is campaigning for the introduction of national screening for all adults over the age of 50, and wants to deliver a message that every person with Dementia should have the same NHS state support in managing their condition as any other disorder.

A JustGiving page has been set up for anyone who would like to support Mike, which can be found online at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Mike-Pollard4
