Midland Building Products has announced a major rebrand to become MBP Door Solutions.

The rebrand is being rolled out across the business' seven branches to consolidate and modernise its brand identity, and to communicate more clearly and cohesively with its customers.

Each local branch will be identified as an MBP Door Solutions regional distribution hub. They are Midland Building Products (MBP), Leeds Doors & Cubicles (LDC), Manchester Doors & Cubicles (MDC), Specialist Joinery Products (SJP), Joinery Specialists Ltd (JSL), Southern Doors & Cubicles (SDC) and newest acquisition, IBS Building Supplies.

Midland Building Products was set up in 1991 following a management buyout of a local timber merchant, led by recently retired managing director, Martyn Finney.

The team had recognised an untapped opportunity of providing doors and joinery to the construction market around the West Midlands region where they operated. More specifically, the company aimed to offer a large range of popular fire doors in stock with onsite glazing expertise, all available on a fast turnaround.

This was the start of a regional branch acquisition programme.

Expansion allowed the company to set up several manufacturing businesses to service its different customers, and to respond to various legislation changes in the market. A bespoke door plant was the first in 2000, which provides special designs, sizes and pairs to complement standard sized doors, and has been key to winning large contracts.

Two specialist doorset manufacturing businesses followed, providing a range of standard and high specification doors that are pre-hung in frames for commercial and residential projects; a door kit operation servicing major housebuilding projects; and a fire, smoke, and acoustic door seals business.

Martyn Finney commented: “Like many business stories ours hasn’t been without its drawbacks. We’ve survived a devastating fire which wiped out our entire stock, a major recession, and the recent pandemic. Thankfully we have a fantastic team and an established customer base which have been vital to the company’s ongoing success.

“While our local markets are still very important to us, we recognised that our old branding structure was confusing to our larger regional and national customers and needed updating to reflect the company that we have become. This rebrand will do that whilst helping us to foster a ‘one team’ ethos across the whole business.”

Adrian Wade, MBP Door Solutions Group Sales Director, added: “Rebranding and consolidating to MBP Door Solutions gives us a single brand to use that will unify communications internally and externally and make us look like the professional, major player that we are.

“In return, new national housebuilders, builder’s merchants, and contractors will have the confidence to trade with us which will improve long-term job security and opportunities for our employees.

“This exciting new chapter is a natural progression for the business, with the customer firmly at the heart of it which can only be positive for everyone.”

The rebrand was officially launched on 2 October and is being rolled out gradually across branch signage, vehicles, workwear, and marketing on and off-line channels including literature, website, and social media.
