LONGRIDGE: OBAS UK, the Lancashire building products distribution company, has scooped the Business of the Year title in one of the county’s top award ceremonies.
The company carried off the top award at the BIBAs 2010 ceremony – held in Blackpool, with judges recognising ‘commercial success, growth and achievement; innovation; creativity; and community involvement.’
This latest award marks a highly successful run for OBAS and its managing director, Norman Tenray, who took over the business just two years ago when he acquired four failed businesses and brought them together under the OBAS Group banner.
Last year, Mr Tenray was named the Business Person of the Year at the 2009 BIBAs.
Mr Tenray and OBAS were shortlisted for five awards in total at this year’s BIBAs – Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business Person, Performance Through People and Leadership Team of the Year.
Mr Tenray said: “OBAS has had an astonishing two years. Everyone at the company has worked incredibly hard not only to survive the worst recession in memory, but also to develop a company we can all be proud of.”
