LONDON: A product that can be fitted to toilets and draws the smell out and down the flushpipe when people are using the bathroom could be sold through builders’ merchants, according to the investors of BBC2’s Dragons’ Den.
Patrick Smyth and Tim Hurst think they have found a way to do away with extractor fans and bad smells. The entrepreneurs unveiled a pair of 'Odourbuster' toilets and demonstrated their small electrical extractor fans that remove air from the toilet bowl and pump it straight into the outflow pipe to the Dragons' Den investors.
The inventors said that although their original aim was to remove bad smells, their solution complies with Building Regulations and removes the need for extractor fans and ventilation, potentially saving money on ventilation systems and ducting and allowing a toilet to be put anywhere.
Dragon Peter Jones thinks that it should be sold in builders' merchants because it is a niche product.
At present, the product will not work in cubicle rows without a solid wall. The inventors are planning to develop a version that would work in other settings.
