BMN's Associate Publisher Lucyanne Matthews will be just one of hundreds of competitors taking part in the charity fundraiser in September.
The 2025 Pavestone Rally, which is due to take place between 3 and 7 September 2025, is fast approaching - and BMN's very own Associate Publisher will be tackling some of Northern Europe’s greatest roads from Dusseldorf to Amsterdam via Berlin, Malmo and Hamburg head on.
Lucyanne Matthews will be competing as one of The Checkpoint Charlies together with Rainy Day Trust Treasurer Trevor Mudd, Business Change & Transformation Manager at SIG plc Peter Saunders and former industry stalwart Samantha Hanks, who is currently a volunteer at Mental Health & Wellbeing Partnership BSW. The Checkpoint Charlies team will take in it turns to drive a highly decorated road-legal car bought for under £1,000.
All in fancy dress, The Checkpoint Charlies will complete challenges along the way, have loads of laughs and a whole lot of fun - all in aid of charity. In 2023, the teams taking part raised over £210,000.
After a drive through France, Belgium and Holland on 3 September, the rally's caravan will arrive at the official starting point: Dusseldorf, Germany. On the Thursday, following a 346 mile route of challenges, contestants can look forward to a night in Berlin.
Friday morning sees the rally journeying 285 miles to Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden, via Denmark, the Rostock Ferry and finally the spectacular eight mile Öresund Bridge.
Then it's off for 311 miles of fun-packed challenges towards Hamburg. The final leg of the event, on Sunday, takes the teams to a Gala Dinner and Prize Presentations in Amsterdam.
To ensure that the rally is carbon neutral, the organisers are working with Tree-nation’s carbon offsetting scheme.
The Checkpoint Charlies would like to thank its corporate supporters Rushlift, ARROWSMITH & ROBERTS LIMITED, AKZ Timber, Arbor Forest Products Ltd and IBMG (Independent Builders Merchant Group).
Having their support means the The Checkpoint Charlies team is super focused on raising as much money as possible for CRASH - Construction Industry's Charity, The Lighthouse Charity, Rainy Day Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust and Variety, the Children's Charity.
