The 30,000 sq. ft. premises, situated just outside Glasgow, will hold up to £1 million in stock and have 30 permanent members of staff when it opens on 29 March.

Leading distributor of specialist building products, SIG UK, is boosting its Scotland service with 20 new staff members as it cuts the ribbon on a newly refurbished branch in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

The 30,000 sq. ft. premises, situated just outside Glasgow, will hold up to £1 million in stock and have 30 permanent members of staff when it opens on 29 March. Twenty new roles have been created at the branch to join ten existing SIG staff as part of the company’s continuing commitment to improving services by offering increased specialism to customers at branch level.

David Hope, Divisional Managing Director for the North & Scotland, said: “This branch opening is an excellent example of SIG moving in the right direction by increasing its number of highly experienced staff on the ground to work step by step with contractors and make a real, material contribution to their project goals. The staff at Cambuslang have years of specialist knowledge in the ranges stocked at the site and are keen to help with all enquiries.”

The site, which was closed in 2019 as part of a consolidation strategy, will operate a fleet of five delivery vehicles when it reopens, with plans to grow this fleet to eight vehicles as the business expands. The branch will cover all the way down to the Borders and as far north as Dundee, or further if necessary, to satisfy customer requirements.

The premises will also be home to SIGD’s specialist high temperature thermal insulation business, MacGregor and Moir.

Branch Director, Cathie Mitchell, said: “I am really excited about the re-opening of the site in Cambuslang and have been joined by several members of the previous team who had moved on to pastures new or retired.

"Together with the existing team, we have added to our experience and the enthusiasm to deliver a quality, efficient service is strong. Collectively we look forward to developing our relationships with customers and suppliers old and new.”
