SIG recently hosted its first charity fundraising gala in aid of the Rainy Day Trust and Cancer Research UK.
Over 200 guests representing the UK building products supply chain, including a member of the BMN team, gathered at the Underglobe, the event venue situated under Shakespeare's Globe in London. Their generosity saw the event raise £50,000, to be split between the two nominated charities.
SIG has always supported a range of charitable causes but the new management team has given the philanthropic activity a new focus by establishing a Charity Committee to co-ordinate group-wide events and initiatives.
Led by serial fundraiser Ian Dryden, the committee has been very active over 2021. Dryden was delighted with the success of the evening: “I was blown away by the generosity of our suppliers and business partners and their enthusiasm to support these two thoroughly deserving causes.
“I have always believed that supporting charitable causes should be part of my daily life and am delighted that the management team at SIG agree and are putting the weight of the Group behind our fundraising activities.
“With the success of this first gala event, I am hoping to make it an annual fixture in the SIG calendar.”
Hosted by celebrity impressionist Rory Bremner, the inaugural charity gala event on 24 November 2021 included a silent auction running throughout the evening, combined with a raffle, which raised over £2,000 from prizes donated by suppliers.
