LEEDS: Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, part of the UK's largest privately-owned timber group, has appointed Dean Schofield to manage its timber and building products business.
Mr Schofield has 25 years of experience of working within the construction distribution sector, having formerly been employed by a national competitor to Howarth. His new role will be to further develop the branch on Pontefract Lane and enhance its product range, while continuing the company's focus on customer service.
"Customer service will continue to be the major focus of my strategy," said Mr Schofield. "It's a quality that other companies claim to be at the heart of their businesses but consistently fail to deliver. We must put the customer first."
Howarth's Leeds branch, traditionally known for its vast ranges of timber and sheet materials, is also a major retailer of heavy side building products including bricks, blocks and mortar. Alongside these are supplies of timber windows, internal doors and roofing and insulation products.
The branch is also home to one of Howarth's largest displays of kitchen systems and has recently completed a major landscape and timber decking display area.
"We have always enjoyed the support of West Yorkshire's trades people and DIY enthusiasts alike, and my aim is to further increase our presence in Leeds," Mr Schofield added.
"We have the products, the knowledge and the people to really capitalise as we emerge from this recession, and I intend to position us so that we and our customers can derive most benefit," he concluded.
