Gibbs & Dandy colleagues were hopping on the bus this autumn as the company embarked on a roadshow of its local merchant branches – on a specially-designed, interactive bus.

The bus, which is part of Gibbs & Dandy’s “We’re all in” employee programme, stopped at 13 different UK locations, visiting the 500+ employees working across Gibbs & Dandy’s 30 branches as well as several Frazer branches. Once on the bus, colleagues were greeted with a number of interactive zones on Health and Wellbeing, Energy Efficient Homes and Customer First Culture.

Members of the executive team also delivered presentations and spoke to colleagues about the company’s vision and objectives for the forthcoming year, along with informing them of the opportunities and benefits available to them including how they can share in the success of the business through a profit share scheme.

Along with the bus, there was also a ‘sustainability trailer’ providing employees with advice to help them make their own homes more energy efficient. As well as heavily discounted rates on renewable products, all Gibbs & Dandy employees were offered a scheme to insulate their homes.

Terry Cook, yard foreman at Gibbs & Dandy’s Henley branch attended one of the first events. He said: “I thought the bus was a great idea which made the day really different to previous company updates and added a real sense of fun. The whole event was really well planned and informative; I particularly enjoyed the interactive zone on the bus and it was good to be reminded about all the company benefits that are available to us.”

Andrew Cushing, sales director at Gibbs & Dandy, explained: “As an executive team, we’ve always believed in delivering updates to our staff directly, as well as through the management team to ensure that they are kept fully informed and involved. This year we were keen to keep the roadshow element in place, but wanted to introduce something a little different that would really reflect our brand values and involve our employees in how we’re doing, where we’re going and what’s in it for them.

“Our focus as a business has been on being great at the basics – having competitive and consistent pricing, the right ranges in stock, on-time deliveries and a general offering to make us easy to do business with. Our customer-facing employees are at the very heart of this strategy, gaining the trust and loyalty of our customers, so it’s more important than ever before that that we’re all ‘on the bus’, and this journey together.”
