Norbord is the latest supplier to return to the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF).

Norbord, which has three manufacturing plants in the UK and one in Belgium, supplies Sterling OSB, Caberwood MDF and Caberboard particleboard flooring to the building trade and counts builders and timber merchants amongst its most important customers. The company is dedicated to producing board from sustainable sources of wood and led the way towards the introduction of FSC certification.

Earlier this month, having rejoined the BMF, Norbord attended the newly formed BMF Timber Forum.

Maurice Fitzgibbon, Norbord sales director, said: “A large part of our business is with merchants and we are committed to helping our customers be successful by working in partnership. The BMF plays a pivotal role in bringing together merchants and suppliers for the benefit of the industry and we look forward to playing our part, in particular within the Timber Forum.”

BMF managing director John Newcomb said: “Norbord joining the BMF is very timely. Timber is a highly technical product area with a wealth of opportunity as the housing market continues its recovery. The BMF’s aim is to bring together the widest grouping of merchants and suppliers operating in this sector, both to advance their voice with legislators and to ensure members have all the information required to help them develop the market. I am delighted that Norbord sees the value of this process and look forward to working with them.”
