Newtown-based business Polyco, which was acquired by the W. Howard Group in 2009, has committed to expansion in the town by investing in new equipment, which will enable it to boost its activity and recruit new staff.

Located at Vastre Enterprise Park, Polyco, which manufactures MDF mouldings, has invested £150,000 in equipment.

The investment will increase the business’ efficiency in producing some of its products, and will create new jobs.

Up to four new positions will be created as a result of the improvements, as the business anticipates a 25% increase in sales over the next 12 months.

Philip Barnard, general manager at Polyco, said: “This is a really exciting time for Polyco and we are pleased that this investment has enabled us to commit to employing more local people. The roles, which will be based throughout the business, will be essential in helping Polyco to develop further, work more efficiently and cement our growing position in the UK market.”

The new machinery and additional personnel will allow Polyco to produce higher quantities and a more diverse range of products in a growing range of finishes and colours. These products are sold through distributors, builders’ merchants, and specialist manufacturers.
