A hospice caring for children across North London, Essex and Hertfordshire has been given a fundraising boost by a Tottenham-based builders merchant.

Selco Builders Warehouse has donated materials for the construction of a new stage to Haven House Children’s Hospice, which provides specialist care for children and young people who have life-limiting conditions.

In the past the hospice has been forced to hire a stage for major fundraising events.

However, thanks to a donation of scaffold boards and external plywood from Selco Builders Warehouse, the hospice based in Essex will now have a permanent platform for entertainment.

“We are extremely grateful for the materials donated by Selco as they will make a big difference to our fundraising events, which in turn will help the children and families we support." said Kate Donoghue, community and events fundraiser at the hospice.

“The fact we will no longer have to pay for the hire of the stage each time we host an event will really boost the revenue.”

Jamie Robinson, branch manager of Selco Tottenham, said: “We always aim to provide support for the local community where possible and Haven House Children’s Hospice is a very worthwhile cause.

“We hope that the stage will bring an increase of funds through to the hospice as well as providing fun and entertainment for the local community.”
