Elliotts is to move its timber yard operations to Southampton from Fort Fareham industrial estate to cater for its growing customer base.
The company’s operations will move from Fareham to a site next to the builders’ merchants Southampton headquarters, where work is already underway to prepare the yard.
Relocation to Southampton means Elliotts can stock a larger amount and a wider range of timber, and will pass on these benefits to its customers in the form of shorter order times. The new yard is in a much more central location to make deliveries to Elliotts customers throughout the south coast and the site has easy access to the motorway.
Tom Elliott, managing director of Elliotts, said: "The relocation of the timber yard means our customers will see a great increase in the amount of timber we stock. We always strive to find any product our customers' require but now we will have a wider range at our fingertips as soon as a customer contacts us."
The family-run business has seen an increase in the demand for timber over the past few years as builders and developers look for an environmentally-friendly alternative to steel and brick.
Mr Elliott added: "Government schemes such as Help to Buy have seen a rise in newbuild homes to meet the housing demand and as such housebuilders have sought out cost efficient construction techniques, such as timber."
