Dennis Roberts from Ty Croes on Anglesey has won a brand-new Vauxhall Vivaro van in the Huws Gray 25th anniversary raffle.

He might well be known as 'Stan' to all his friends and customers but, since ex-Arsenal and England professional football star Paul Merson drew his name out of the Huws Gray 25th Anniversary Raffle, Stan has also become known as the guy who won himself a brand-new Vauxhall Vivaro van.

Mr Roberts is a building/groundworks and demolition contractor who is a regular customer at Huws Gray's Gaerwen branch. He said: "I was totally shocked when I received the phone call telling me I'd won the van. Things like this just don't happen to me! This new van will definitely help me with the day-to-day running of my business. I'd like to thank Huws Gray for donating such a fantastic prize to the raffle, which raised so much money for such a great cause – children's hospices."

The prize draw also offered two other prizes. Lynn Roberts from Rhosmeirch on Anglesey won kitchen and bathroom vouchers to the value of £3,000, while Ian Johnson from Crosby on Merseyside received high street shopping vouchers to the value of £1,000.

The raffle tickets cost a pound each and were sold at Huws Gray's numerous anniversary events, as well as at all of its branches, with all the proceeds going to the company’s nominated charities. On behalf of Huws Gray, Dafydd Hughes said: "We'd like to thank all our customers who supported our anniversary raffle. It was a great way of raising some funds for children’s hospices and giving our loyal customers a good chance of getting their hands on some fantastic prizes."
