IKO plc is delighted to welcome Nestle Shredded Wheat as title sponsor of the Motorbase Performance team in the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

The reigning Independent Teams’ Championship squad confirmed it will compete under a new banner after securing a multi-year title sponsorship deal with the breakfast brand. Motorbase also retained a number of major partners for the 2017 season and beyond with the return of the IKO enertherm brand.

Andy Williamson, group managing director for IKO plc said: “We’re delighted to see Shredded Wheat as the new title sponsor of Motorbase Performance this year. It’s a household name and a great fit with one of the most popular teams on the grid. The new yellow-and-red livery will really stand out on the track and the IKO enertherm logo works well with it too.”

Mr Williamson added: “Our innovative PIR insulation board IKO enertherm pushes the limits on performance – just like Motorbase, which had its most successful BTCC season to date in 2016.”

The team secured both the Independent Teams’ and Drivers’ titles with Mat Jackson taking third in the drivers’ standings – just 16 points off the overall title. Mr Jackson was also retained as the lead driver, marking his 8th consecutive season in the Motorbase line-up.

“Motorbase Performance is extremely proud to be bringing such a well-known brand as Shredded Wheat to the British Touring Car Championship,” said David Bartrum, team principle at Motorbase Performance. “It’s great to have IKO back on-board too for the season ahead and we hope to welcome further partners to the team in the coming weeks. This news, coupled with the announcement that we will be expanding to a three-car team in 2017, means there are some very exciting times ahead.”
