Allegion has appointed Pete Hancox as commercial leader of its UK and Ireland businesses to build and lead strategic partnerships in specification.

Mr Hancox joins Allegion UK in Birmingham from his recent role as client services director for HP Doors. He will also be in charge of overseeing Ireland’s commercial activity. Mr Hancox is no stranger to Allegion, having been part of the Ingersoll Rand security group for almost nine years, prior to his appointment with HP Doors. Allegion formed as a result of the spin-off of Ingersoll Rand’s commercial and residential security business in 2013.

The new role has been created by Allegion as part of its strategy to develop more strategic partnerships with its customers. It is widely recognised in the industry that door hardware is becoming more sophisticated as electronics and mechanical hardware merge. Allegion will educate customers on the benefits new technology is brings and how to incorporate it in long-term commercial properties.

Marc Lengahan, commercial director of Allegion UK and Ireland, said, “We are embarking on a journey with our customers to develop from transactional relationships to strategic partnerships, while also working to become more relevant to the end user and driving demand though specification and project work. Mr Hancox has held many positions and can boast a collective 13 years in the door industry. The expertise of an individual like him is invaluable, and we are very pleased to have him on board.”
