GE Robinson has announced its first acquisition in Yorkshire having recently completed the purchase of Craven Timber (Batley), based in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.

GE Robinson, part of the Haldane Shiells Group, is one of the UK’s leading timber importers supplying timber to the trade since 1914, importing from locations across the world to its sites in Salford and Walsall. Going forward the new business will trade as ‘Craven Timber’.

Craven Timber is a well-respected and successful business which has grown since 1995 under the leadership of Ian Farmer and Patrick Bingham, both of whom will continue to work in the business along with the existing staff.

Andrew Gerrard, Managing Director of GE Robinson, is delighted with the addition of the new site. He said: “Craven Timber is an extremely well-run business and it has been a pleasure to work with Ian and Pat to bring the business on board. We want to continue to build on the work that they and their team have done over the last 22 years. We are looking forward to further developing the site and continuing to offer a good service to the local area and beyond. We have no doubt that we can take Craven Timber to the next level and offer both new and existing customers a wide range of products available in stock ready for when they need it.”

Ian Farmer, Director at Craven Timber, added: “We’re excited for Craven Timber to continue to grow and are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the team from GE Robinson and take the business to the next level. Our customers have been incredibly supportive of us in the past, as have our staff and I know they will all continue to do so going forward.”
