Ridgeons has announced a series of major new investments and changes to its Cambridge branches, with the renovation and expansion of its existing Nuffield Road branch, the opening of a new flagship branch in Norman Way and the closure of the existing Cromwell Road branch in April 2018.

The new developments in Cambridge include opportunities for employees at all levels to develop their skills and progress into new positions at both the new Norman Way and expanded Nuffield Road branches. A positive engagement process to inform all Cambridge employees of the plans and new opportunities is nearing completion.

Two new Branch Managers who have fast tracked their careers with Ridgeons since leaving school are being appointed for the new Norman Way and expanded Nuffield Road branches.

Other changes include the appointment of two Customer Service Managers for each branch to enhance the Ridgeons service for busy tradespeople.

At the Cambridge North branch in Nuffield Road, a major refurbishment and expansion programme is underway. A new PlumbStock and Anglia Tool Centre are being added and will open at the end of 2017, while a new kitchen and bathroom showroom will open in early 2018.

The Norman Way branch, which will open at Easter 2018 (when the Cromwell Road branch will close) will become a highly efficient collect-only branch supplying both heavy side and light side building and construction materials. The Cromwell Road site will be sold by Ridgeons with planning permission for housing development.

Ian Northen, Chief Executive, Ridgeon Group, said: “The Ridgeon Group has a long heritage in Cambridge and we are very excited with the implementation of this plan, which will improve our all-round offering to our customers and fits with the rapid expansion of PlumbStock and Anglia Tool Centre across the region. I am also delighted that it offers new opportunities for our colleagues to grow within the business.”
