Industry professionals and Icopal staff took to the greens at the prestigious Woburn Golf Club near Milton Keynes for the manufacturer’s largest annual golf day to date with the chance to win a BMW Convertible. The day also raised over £700 to help support The Christie Hospital in Manchester.

Building on the success of the event in 2016, this year Icopal welcomed more than 90 guests who teed off on two of Woburn’s three challenging courses. While there was a host of prizes to be won, the focus of the day was the prospect of winning the BMW 4 Series M Convertible worth £42,000. Participants needed to sink a hole in one on either the Marquess’ 17th or the Duke’s 9th hole to win the prize.

Although the hole in one proved elusive on the day, some high quality golf was demonstrated in the individual competition. The tournament’s overall winner was Paul Alston from John Cobb Consulting Limited who received the Icopal Trophy and also scooped a £150 American Golf voucher as the Duke’s course winner.

On the Marquess course, it was Gary Vaughan who won the top prize. Furthermore, £50 American Golf vouchers went to both Mark Skelly of Owen Ellis Architects and Gian-Franco Cencelli from Fornacelli Developments as winners of the longest drive award on the Duke’s and Marquess courses respectively.

There were also a handful of golfers on each course who were able to ‘Beat the Pro’ and win a sleeve of Icopal branded Titleist golf balls. For the chance to test their skills against the pros, each person donated £10 to charity and a total of £720 was raised for the Christie Charitable Fund. The money will help support the vital cancer research and specialist patient care services of The Christie Hospital in Manchester.

Simon Woods, Sales Director at Icopal commented: “This event, which is now becoming an annual tradition, provides a great opportunity to bring our clients and team together outside of the working environment. Sharing a round of golf is a good chance to get to know people better and an ideal way to say thank you to a few of the people who have helped make the past year a success.”

Paul Alston, Director at John Cobb Consulting said: “It’s been a brilliant day at one of the best courses in the UK - I have really enjoyed it. I’m delighted to have finished the day as the overall winner and I look forward to next year’s event.”
