Chandlers Building Supplies has announced that the Construction Industry Helpline, run by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, is its charity focus for the coming year.

The Construction Industry Helpline, a 24/7 confidential helpline for the industry’s workforce and their families, was selected by the family-owned builders' merchant following its month-long appeal to find a charity partner for the next financial year.

Sue McKinney, of Chandlers Buildings Supplies, said: “We had many, many worthy charities applying for the partnership opportunity, however, following much consideration, we chose to support the Construction Industry Helpline, provided by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. This is a wonderful and much needed service totally dedicated to the sector in which we operate, the construction industry."

The charity has 21 volunteer-led regional clubs throughout the UK and Ireland and has been supporting the construction industry since 1956. The helpline is the gateway to the services it provides for the construction workforce. The aim is to get every construction worker to carry a Construction Industry Helpline card so they know where to turn to in times of need.

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Chandlers Building Supplies in this, their 25th anniversary year and look forward to working with them over the next 12 months to continue to raise the profile of our Helpline and of the variety of support we deliver within the construction sector.”

Over the years, Chandlers Building Supplies’ charity partnerships have generated huge benefits for the selected charity. Its 2017 charity partnership scooped Best Community Initiative at the Builders’ Merchants News Awards.

The Construction Industry Helpline is provided and funded by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
