Following on from the expansion of Ridgeons Nuffield Road branch, Ridgeons has now opened its new flagship branch in Norman Way.

Norman Way supplies both heavy side and light side building and construction materials as well as a kitchen and bathroom showroom. Due to the recently renovated Ridgeons branch on Nuffield Road will manage the deliveries of the heavy side products.

Norman Way’s Branch Manager, Adam Thompson, who has moved from his previous position at Cromwell Road to the new two-acre site, gave guests an introduction to the new branch.

He said: “As I’ve been with Ridgeons since completing a work experience placement in 2003 and promoted to Branch Manager last autumn, I’m excited to play such a key part in this milestone development.

“The changes have been welcomed by our customers because Norman Way is designed to provide them with immediate contact with our team as soon as they enter the branch. This gives customers the enhanced service that they need and want from Ridgeons.”

Hugh Guntrip, Director of Merchants Cambridge, said: “With the recent upgrades comes a faster and more flexible approach for customers. Norman Way is designed for fast and efficient service and, the team is able to collaborate more closely with Nuffield Road to provide customers with a seamless service across both branches. For example, there is now a process in place whereby the team can quickly source certain items from Nuffield Road for customers, and replenish stock, which is delivered by our Distribution Centre, every day.

“Also, because our colleagues are working as one team they now have more flexibility for career progression across Cambridge and other branches.”

The Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor George Pippas, officially opened the Ridgeon Group’s new flagship branch in Norman Way Cambridge. Pippas congratulated Ridgeons on its long heritage in Cambridge and the important role the company plays in providing local jobs.#

Ian Northen, Chief Executive, Ridgeon Group, said: “The Ridgeon Group has a long heritage in Cambridge and it is great to see how positively our customers have responded to our investments, which enhance Ridgeons’ all-round offering to Cambridge customers.”

In February, the Nuffield Road branch in Cambridge opened a showroom as part of the branch’s £400,000 renovation and expansion. Further investments at Ridgeons branches include a new £100,000 timber storage facility at the Newmarket branch, due to open this summer.
