Handmade brick supplier Imperial Bricks has reported a 25% increase in sales and a 20% increase in business growth on the 2015/16 financial year.

It says the growth is due to a surge in demand for reclamation-style bricks, driven by builders’ merchants, architects and specifiers, developers and self-builders.

MD Jason Hughes said: “From the start of the business, we noticed a gap in the market for reclamation-style bricks that did not suffer from the same issues as genuine reclaims.

“It’s crucial to take into consideration the regional variations in handmade bricks, and that is an area of strength for us. From London Yellow Stock, new Original London Stock, Cambridge Buff, and a series of imperial-sized bricks suitable for the Midlands and North such as the 3” Reclamation Handmade, the new York Clamp and Imperial Accrington Stock, our expert team knows what brick suits where, and are increasing the product range continually to meet demand.”

Imperial offers more than 50 traditional handmade, wirecut, waterstruck and pressed bricks, available in imperial and metric sizes and reclamation finishes. Last year it introduced a complementary Heritage lime mortar and brick tint solution to the range.

It also gives advice to housebuilders, developers, architects and specifiers who are looking for a brick match and need samples to meet tough planning and conservation guidelines. Builders’ merchants can use its POS materials and Brick Tower displays, which showcase bricks appropriate for their area.

Two RIBA-approved CPD courses are available, helping architects and specifiers learn about brick matching, and restoration and renovation with bricks.

Hughes said: “Our growth in the last few years has been extraordinary, thanks to a dedicated and enthusiastic team that firmly believe in our products, our positioning in the market and the expert advice that helps projects from concept to completion.”
