Salamander Pumps has appointed Simon Platts as National Account Manager, following six successful years in the business.

Platts (pictured) was promoted to Key Account Manager last year, responsible for running the Plumbing and Heating Group, which includes 300+ branches. After helping Salamander to achieve its ambitious growth plans over the past 12 months, his new role will see him taking on a country-wide sales role.

As National Account Manager, he will build relationships with key national merchants up and down the country, working closely with Salamander’s National Sales Manager, Adam Brand, and the Salamander sales team to fulfil his clients' requirements.

He said: “When I joined the company there was a big focus on developing good relationships with existing clients and, through good relationships, innovative R&D and a dedicated sales team, we have grown an additional £4m in the last five years. For me, it’s great to be part of a performing, and winning team.”

Before joining Salamander, Platts spent eight years as Branch Manager at a national merchant.

Chris Vallance, Sales and Marketing Director at Salamander, said: “We are delighted to announce Simon’s new role. He has worked incredibly hard over the past six years to help us increase sales and hit ambitious targets and has a true passion for the sector and commitment to the business that has inspired others and resulted in an exciting career path here at Salamander, and on a personal level it is great to be able to promoted talent from within the business.”
