Green-fingered volunteers helped to tame a carer colleague’s unruly garden as part of a campaign to help the community.
Staff at Covers Gosport branch teamed up to lend a hand to their Assistant Manager Jamie Dent, whose garden had been neglected while he cared for his wife, who has Huntington’s disease, and their two children.
The garden was overrun with weeds, potholes and piles of rubbish– until the group of volunteers transformed it into a neat and tidy space that Dent and his family can now enjoy.
It was all part of Covers’ Help for the Community Campaign, an initiative that sees staff volunteer in projects to help the local community with maintenance tasks, as well as donating materials.
Chris Collard, Depot Manager at Covers Gosport, said: “Following the launch of the campaign, my first thought was helping Jamie to tackle his garden. Jamie works really hard to support his family and is an invaluable member of the team.
“It was the least we could do as his friends and colleagues to support him and his family to help make life a bit easier. The team has done a fantastic job and we hope his whole family enjoys their new garden.”
Dent said: “I am blown away by their generosity and how much they have managed to achieve in so little time. My family and I are incredibly grateful for their thoughts and help.
“We are looking forward to making the most of our new outdoor space over the summer and beyond.”
