A supplier that says it goes the extra mile for both customers and employees has been recognised at the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s 2018 National awards.

The Scheme aims to promote best practice and improve the image of the construction industry, and its awards honour the companies that score the highest against its Code of Considerate Practice.

Waste management contractor Norris won the Supplier of the Year Award. Norris has offices and facilities in London and Kent and was established more than 45 years ago. It prides itself on its recycling achievements, and says that last month 100% of its waste was diverted from landfill.

Norris also recently introduced its own Professional Driver Recognition Scheme, which awards bronze, silver and gold status to drivers who achieve and maintain specific criteria; including assessments, relevant e-learning courses, high attendance and no accidents.

Director Kieron Norris said the company “goes the extra mile” whether it is for customers or its own staff. Staff are friendly and well- trained in customer service, and they receive professional and financial advice, healthy living campaigns and life insurance policies. To ensure the skips and containers are safe and presentable, Norris also employs full-time welders and painters.

Director Kieron Norris said he was “amazed and delighted” to win the award, calling the CCS “the benchmark of professionalism in the construction industry”.

He added: “The judges take into account not only the exemplary service we provide to our customers and the commitment we put into the public perception of our business, but also the care and attention we give to our staff for their well-being and inclusion in the company’s vision.

“All of these contributing factors make up the ethos of Norris - we are a customer–focused and professional waste management contractor that guarantees value, confidence and reliability, time after time.”
